Final Touch

This design has the Final Touch: the wording is stamped, stitched or foiled to match the artwork, so the card reads as one finished piece.

Start from it and your wording is painted in the same way, exactly as you type it.

What the Final Touch is

This is a housewarming invitation for a new address treated with the seriousness of a flagship opening. Guests arrive in the early afternoon, leave their shoes in a row by the door, and are walked through the rooms in a fixed order. The tour includes the closet. It includes the closet twice, because the shelving was a decision.

Opinions are the price of entry. Paint chips are taped to the hall wall, the tile sample is still on the counter, and everyone is asked where the sofa should face. Somebody opens a drawer that was not part of the route and finds the hinges are soft-close. The afternoon ends in the one room with enough chairs, with the keys cut and labeled and handed to the two people who will need them.

What to actually tell people

  • Fix the route before anyone arrives Decide the order of rooms and end in the one with seating. A tour that finishes in an empty bedroom sends everyone back to the entryway.
  • Shoes off means socks New floors show everything, so put a low basket by the door and a few spare pairs beside it. One guest will arrive in sandals and be grateful.
  • Do not trust the oven yet An unfamiliar oven runs hot or does nothing at all. Serve things at room temperature on one cleared surface and keep the kitchen free for the tour.
  • Give the opinions a target Tape the paint samples to the hall wall and ask for a vote. People argue better about two greens than about a house in general.
