Thirty-five and Shedding
One thing from thirty-four gets written on a card and left at the coat check.
Part of the TinselLux™ collection: invitations in stitched leather, tufted velvet, linen and satin.
The material is the card: linen with a visible weave, velvet with a nap, leather with its grain. It costs the same as every other invitation.
See the collectionA birthday invitation for the thirty-fifth, held as drinks in a low-lit lounge where the booths are taupe leather and the bartender keeps the room quiet enough to hear a toast. Guests come in around eight, in the one good piece they own, and the handbags go on the table rather than the floor. There is no cake and no seating chart. There is a corner booth, a round of martinis, and a bowl of olives that gets replaced twice.
The turn happens at the door. Each guest writes one thing from the past year on a card and leaves it with the coats: a job, a lease, a habit, a group chat that has run its course. Nobody reads them out. At eleven somebody stands up, says four sentences, and sits down again. The cards stay where they are when everyone walks out.

What to actually tell people
- Hold the booth, not the bar A lounge will seat ten in a corner if you call ahead and give a name. Standing at the bar turns a party into four separate conversations by half past nine.
- Agree one drink in advance Pick a single cocktail with the bartender before the night, so the first round arrives together. Everything after that comes off the menu.
- Set up the coat check Leave a stack of index cards and one pen with whoever takes the coats. One line each, folded, no names, and nothing gets read aloud.
- Decide the cake question early Most lounges will not let you bring a cake in, and candles are usually out. Book the toast for eleven instead and let that be the moment.
