This game night invitation is for the kind of evening that begins at a dinner table and ends at the same one. Steaks first, with an old fashioned made over one large cube and an orange twist. Jackets stay on through the main course. Nobody touches a deck while there is still creamed spinach on the table.

Then the plates go, a cloth goes down, and the chips come out in stacks counted to the same number for everyone. The brass dealer button moves left, the blinds go up on a schedule somebody wrote down, and the first player knocked out ends up refilling drinks and offering advice nobody asked for. The last hand happens much later than the reservation implied.

What to actually tell people

Count the seats before you send anything A table plays best at seven or eight. That number is also your dinner booking, so decide it first and treat late additions as spectators.
Order the steaks ahead Collect cuts and temperatures with the RSVPs so the kitchen is not taking eight separate decisions at the table. Food lands together, which is the only way cards start on time.
Fix the buy-in and the blind levels in advance One buy-in, one rebuy window, and a written blind structure taped inside the chip case. Agreeing it over dessert is already too late.
Reset the table between dinner and cards Plates cleared, a cloth laid, and drinks moved to a side table away from the chips. Steak grease ruins a deck faster than anything else at the party.
