Biscuit Turns Three
Six dogs turn up in their good collars, and one has a monogram on the buckle.
Part of the TinselLux™ collection: invitations in stitched leather, tufted velvet, linen and satin.
The material is the card: linen with a visible weave, velvet with a nap, leather with its grain. It costs the same as every other invitation.
See the collectionA just because invitation for a dog's third birthday, run to the standards of a leather goods house. Guests arrive with their dogs. The good collars come out of the drawer, the ones kept for the vet and for photographs. A bowl of biscuits sits by the door, next to a sheet of paper where people write down what their dog is called and what it is not allowed to eat.
The dogs are walked to the end of the block together before anyone goes inside. A folding table holds the peanut butter cake, cut into small pieces. Someone holds the three-year-old still against the plain wall for one portrait, and he sits for it, because holding still has always ended in a biscuit. By four the collars are off and the whole room is on the floor.

What to actually tell people
- Check collars at the door Keep three spare collars and a slip lead in a basket by the entry. A guest whose dog arrived in a harness should not be turned away, only fitted.
- Set a limit on the biscuit bowl One bowl of small treats by the door, one treat per guest, said out loud as people come in. A dog this size can take about six before the afternoon changes character.
- Two cakes, clearly labelled Peanut butter and banana for the dogs, cut to the size of a thumb. Something with chocolate in it for the people, kept on a high shelf until the dogs are out in the yard.
- Prepare the floor before the first knock Roll up the hall rug and put a water bowl in every room, including the one nobody plans to use. Introductions happen on the sidewalk, not in the entryway.
