Wedding invitation

Chiara & Leo

Spritzes go out on the terrace while the sun drops behind the water.

Wedding invitation: Cream card framed by cobalt and white cabana stripes. A painted ceramic medallion with the initials C L sits above "Chiara & Leo" in blue script, with the date on a small tile and the venue below.

Part of the TinselLux™ collection: invitations in stitched leather, tufted velvet, linen and satin.

The material is the card: linen with a visible weave, velvet with a nap, leather with its grain. It costs the same as every other invitation.

This wedding invitation belongs to a sunny coastal wedding: cobalt and white stripes, painted tiles, and a terrace that looks out over the water. Guests arrive in the late afternoon while it is still bright, find their names, and take a glass as they come up the steps. The ceremony is short and outdoors. Then the aperitivo hour opens, with spritzes, olives, salted almonds and small plates passed while the light goes gold.

Dinner is served outside at long tables as the sun goes down, and the candles get lit somewhere between the first course and the toasts. Nobody is in a hurry. Plates come out slowly, the wine keeps moving down the table, and the music starts once the tables are cleared. Late in the evening the terrace cools, wraps come out of bags, and the dancing carries on under the lights strung above the stripes.

What to actually tell people

  • Time the ceremony to the sunset, not the clock Look up the exact sunset time for your date and work backwards: ceremony, then aperitivo through the golden hour, then dinner as it dims. An hour and a half between the vows and the first course is usually right.
  • Serve a real aperitivo, not just drinks Spritzes and something cold and white, with olives, almonds, taralli and a few passed bites. It keeps guests standing and talking, and it means dinner can run late without anyone getting hungry.
  • Plan for terrace wind and terrace floors Weight the menus and napkins, use hurricane glass around every candle, and tell guests in advance that the floor is tile and stone so they can choose their shoes. Have a basket of wraps near the door for after dark.
  • Let the tiles do the small signage Painted ceramic tiles make good escort cards, table markers and favors, and they carry the blue and white through the whole terrace. Order them early and have one spare set, because they travel badly.
