Wedding invitation

Luna & Elias

Lanterns go on at dusk, and the vows are said once the stars are out.

Wedding invitation: Midnight navy card with a crescent moon cut out at the top showing pale opal paper beneath, small opal stars in the margins, and gold script names reading Luna & Elias, with the date and venue below.

Part of the TinselLux™ collection: invitations in stitched leather, tufted velvet, linen and satin.

The material is the card: linen with a visible weave, velvet with a nap, leather with its grain. It costs the same as every other invitation.

A wedding invitation in midnight navy and gold is usually telling you one thing before you read a word: this one starts late. Guests arrive while the light is going, find their names at the table by candle, and sit down to dinner with the sky already dark above them.

Then the tables are cleared and the floor opens. The first dance happens under whatever the night gives you, a crescent moon or a full one, with string lights overhead and the cold coming in off the grass. People take wraps from the basket by the door, keep their drinks, and stay out well past the last course.

What to actually tell people

  • Look up the sunset and the moon Find the sunset time for your date and set the ceremony about forty minutes before it, so vows happen in the last warm light. While you are at it, check the moon phase. A crescent or a full moon over the dance floor is worth choosing a weekend for.
  • Light the walk in Everything from the parking area to the chairs needs real light: lanterns along gravel, tape or a candle at every step down, someone with a torch at the car park. Guests arriving in the dark in dress shoes will thank you for it.
  • Put warmth where people sit The temperature drops fast once the sun is down, especially on open ground. Set a basket of wraps and blankets by the entrance and place heaters near the tables rather than the bar, where nobody stands still.
  • Light the floor, not only the tables Candles make dinner look right but give a dance floor nothing. Hang string lights or set two uplights at the edge of the floor, check where the power runs from, and tell your photographer the first dance is after dark so they bring the right lens.
