Hero in Training

Capes come off a rack by the door, sorted by height, and every recruit gets a name card before the first drill begins. There are three stations: a mask drill for going unseen, a lightning drill for speed across the yard, a fist drill for lifting something heavier than expected. One adult works the clipboard and marks each one off by hand.

The party turns at the ceremony. Recruits line up, names are read out, and the mask, shield and fist patches are handed over one at a time to whoever cleared the drill. Cake comes after that, which is the correct order. Capes go home with the guests.
