Wedding invitation

Maya & Daniel

The ceremony is in a gallery room, and the reception starts where the chairs were.

Wedding invitation: Deep burgundy card with a blind-embossed laurel sprig at top right, a thin cream rule, and large cream serif lettering reading Maya & Daniel, with the date and venue below.

Part of the TinselLux™ collection: invitations in stitched leather, tufted velvet, linen and satin.

The material is the card: linen with a visible weave, velvet with a nap, leather with its grain. It costs the same as every other invitation.

This wedding invitation is for an evening in a gallery room: white walls, a hard floor, rows of chairs facing a spot near the far end, and nothing on the walls competing with the couple. Guests arrive in cocktail attire. The ceremony is short. Then the room is cleared, the bar opens along one wall, and tables go down where the chairs were standing.

Dinner is served in the same space. Menus and napkins carry the two colors the night runs on, deep burgundy and warm cream, and the only ornament on the paper is a laurel sprig pressed into it with no ink. Toasts happen between courses. The floor is bare and the sound carries, so the first dance fills the whole room without much help.

What to actually tell people

  • Put the room turnover on the timeline A gallery room that holds the ceremony and the dinner needs thirty to forty-five minutes in between. Give guests somewhere to stand with a drink while the chairs come out and the tables go down.
  • Ask the venue what is on the walls Gallery spaces rotate their shows, so ask what will be hanging on your date and get the rules in writing: open flame, tape, confetti, where vendors load in, and how close tables can sit to the work.
  • Warm the lighting and soften the sound Track lighting is aimed at art, not at a dinner table. Ask for warm uplights or lamps, and book a microphone for the toasts, because concrete floors and bare walls make voices bounce.
  • Hold the palette to two colors The card runs on deep burgundy and cream. Carry those two through the menus, the napkins and the place cards, and let the room stay plain everywhere else.
