Wedding invitation

Sofia & Matteo

Dinner is one long table under the lemon trees, and the wine comes out of ice.

Part of the TinselLux™ collection: invitations in stitched leather, tufted velvet, linen and satin.

The material is the card: linen with a visible weave, velvet with a nap, leather with its grain. It costs the same as every other invitation.

This wedding invitation is for a day in a lemon garden, where the ceremony is outdoors in the late afternoon and the floors are hand-painted tile. Guests arrive in linen and light colors, walk up through terracotta pots and clipped citrus trees, and take a glass on the terrace while the sun is still high. Vows are said with the sea light on everything, and nobody is in a hurry to go back inside.

Dinner is served outside at one long table, with bowls of lemons down the middle and bread set out before anyone sits. Toasts come between courses. Limoncello comes out of the freezer after the plates are cleared, and the dancing happens on the terrace, with the tiles still warm from the afternoon.

What to actually tell people

  • Set the spritz hour before the sun drops Pour welcome drinks on the terrace while the light is still gold: prosecco, Aperol, soda, and a board of cut lemons. Keep one tub of ice refilled, because warm wine is the one thing that goes wrong outdoors.
  • Seat the long table yourself A single long table means every toast is heard from both ends, so alternate families rather than grouping them. Weight each place card down with a lemon so the evening breeze cannot rearrange your seating chart.
  • Let the lemons do the decorating Bowls of lemons with the leaves still attached, olive branches and a few terracotta pots are enough down the center of the table. Save the budget for the food and the wine instead of tall arrangements that block faces.
  • Mind the tile and the steps Painted tile and stone terraces are slippery in heels and hot underfoot by five. Leave a basket of flat sandals near the steps, put water carafes on every table, and tell guests in advance how far the walk is from parking.
