A game night invitation to a back room that is, in fact, a two-car garage with the door pulled down. The folding table gets a cut of green felt. A shop lamp comes down low over it, the space heater runs in the corner, and six people sit in a circle of light with their phones face down. Somebody has brought rolls of nickels from the bank and counts them out like a teller.

The first hour is polite. Then a short stack goes all in for four dollars and sixty cents, the table goes quiet, and the call takes eleven minutes. Nobody leaves up more than the cost of a sandwich. Everyone shakes hands at the door and schedules the next one before the lamp is switched off.

What to actually tell people

Lay the felt before anyone arrives A yard of green baize or a smooth cloth over the folding table changes everything: cards slide, stacks stand, and nobody is dealing off bare plywood.
Go to the bank for coins Two rolls of nickels and one of quarters per player, bought in advance. Cash at the door, nobody settling up by phone mid-hand.
Post the house rules by the door Write down the ante, the raise cap and whether a misdeal stands, and tape it where people hang their coats. Arguments die faster when the ruling is already on the wall.
Light the table, heat the room One lamp low over the felt and the overheads off keeps attention where it belongs. A garage in March also needs the space heater running an hour before the first deal.
