Kick Off
A penalty shootout settles it, and the keeper is whoever turned up wearing gloves.
Part of the TinselLux™ collection: invitations in stitched leather, tufted velvet, linen and satin.
The material is the card: linen with a visible weave, velvet with a nap, leather with its grain. It costs the same as every other invitation.
See the collectionThis birthday invitation imagines a morning on a marked pitch: chalk down the touchlines, two goals at either end, and a bag of pinnies emptied onto the grass before anyone has decided who is on which team. Cleats are laced on the tailgate. Someone's father has a whistle on a lanyard and has clearly thought about how he will use it.
Halves run short because the field is a park and the ball ends up in the hedge twice. Teams are redrawn after the break on no stated principle. It turns at the shootout, five kickers a side, with the smallest guest taking the tie-breaker and the whole sideline standing up for it. Then the cleats come off and the cake comes out on a folding table behind the goal.

Final whistle: cake.
Every line of the wording is an example, and yours to replace. The title is painted into the artwork. Type your own and it is drawn again with your words.
What to actually tell people
- Mark the field before guests arrive Chalk or marker paint on grass takes longer than you think, and the center circle is the part people stand around. Two cones per goal mouth will do the rest.
- Bring two colors of pinnie and a spare ball Teams get redrawn at least once, and a sorted pile of bibs is the fastest way to do it without an argument. A pump in the bag is worth more than the spare ball.
- Appoint one whistle Give one adult the whistle, the halves and the final ruling on the shootout. Shared refereeing on a birthday pitch becomes a negotiation with eleven lawyers.
- Set the cake up off the grass A folding table behind one goal keeps the candles out of the wind and gives parents somewhere to stand. Have a bag for cleats, because nobody should carry that soil into a car.
