A cream raffia bachelorette weekend is the kind that happens outside, on a patio or in a courtyard, with woven trays on the table and flowers that someone picked up that morning. The banner goes up first. Then the limes get cut, the salt plate comes out, and the first round is poured while people are still arriving and finding a chair.

The afternoon runs long. There are chips and salsa before anyone eats properly, a playlist that nobody skips, and a bride in white among a lot of hot pink and marigold. By evening the table is covered in cut limes, empty glasses and a few flowers that have come loose, and someone is handing out fans because it is still warm.

What to actually tell people

  • Build the bar on a tray Set a woven tray with tequila, triple sec, a salt plate and a small bowl of lime wedges so it can move from the kitchen to the patio in one trip. Keep the ice in a cooler underneath, not on the table.
  • String the banner in daylight Papel picado takes longer to hang than you expect, and it is easier with two people and a ball of twine. Tie it high enough that nobody walks into it and low enough that it reads from the street.
  • Buy more limes than seems reasonable Plan on two limes per person and cut them all before guests arrive. Put out chips, salsa and something substantial early, because the first round always comes before dinner does.
  • Send everyone home with the straw tote A straw bag holding a fan, sunscreen and a bottle of water works for the patio and again at the pool the next morning. Write names on the handles so they do not get mixed up.
