Ivory leather, two-thread bachelorette invitation

Margs & Matrimony in Two-Thread Leather

Papel picado is strung across the patio before the first pitcher is poured.

Ivory leather, two-thread bachelorette invitation: Embroidered ivory leather card with a pink and teal papel picado banner across the top, satin-stitch lettering reading Margs & Matrimony, and prickly pear, agave, lime halves and pink flowers below.

Part of the TinselLux™ collection: invitations in stitched leather, tufted velvet, linen and satin.

The material is the card: linen with a visible weave, velvet with a nap, leather with its grain. It costs the same as every other invitation.

An ivory leather, two-thread bachelorette invitation sets up a weekend that sticks to two colours: hot pink and deep teal. Everyone arrives at the house in one or the other. The banner goes up over the patio table, clay pots of prickly pear go down the middle, and someone takes charge of the limes.

The days are unhurried. There is a tequila tasting in the afternoon, a long dinner outside under the banner, and music once the plates are cleared. The bride gets handed the first glass and is not allowed to carry anything to the sink. By the last morning the limes are gone and the flowers are in jars on the kitchen windowsill.

What to actually tell people

  • Two colours, no others Tell guests to wear hot pink or deep teal, and say it plainly in the invitation. A group that holds to two colours looks of a piece in every photo taken all weekend.
  • Hang the banner first Papel picado goes up before anything else, strung on fishing line between two fixed points rather than taped to a wall. Bring it in overnight if rain is forecast, since wet paper tears at the folds.
  • Stock limes and salt properly Plan on two limes per person per day and buy coarse salt for the rims. Set out a saucer of salt, a bowl of cut halves and a sharp knife so the bar keeps running without you.
  • Put cactus in clay pots Small prickly pear or agave in terracotta pots make a centrepiece that survives a weekend outdoors and does not wilt. Send them home with guests on the last morning instead of binning cut arrangements.
