Bridal shower invitation

MIA Bridal Shower

Every guest arrives with a small bag on a gold chain, and the cake is cut after tea.

Ballet pink quilted leather card framed in gold chain, a gold clasp at the top and ivory pearls draped in the upper left. MIA in gold capitals over Bridal Shower in rose script, with the date and venue below.

Part of the TinselLux™ collection: invitations in stitched leather, tufted velvet, linen and satin.

The material is the card: linen with a visible weave, velvet with a nap, leather with its grain. It costs the same as every other invitation.

A bridal shower invitation like this one sets up an afternoon in a tea room: ballet pink, gold, and pearls worn on purpose. Guests come in soft colors with their good bags on their shoulders, the pots come out in sittings, and the tiered stand is loaded with sandwiches on the bottom and cake at the top. Nobody is standing up with a plate in one hand. Everyone has a chair and a saucer.

The bride sits where she can see the whole table. Gifts stay small and wrapped in tissue, the kind that fit in a car boot on one trip. Somewhere between the second pot and the cake, the one big secret on the card gets told: a date, a destination, a name. Then the tea gets topped up and the table stays talking until the room needs it back.

What to actually tell people

  • Book a sitting, not an afternoon Tea rooms run in timed seatings, usually two hours. Ask what time the table is wanted back, and tell guests the end time on the invitation so nobody is still unwrapping when the next party is at the door.
  • Ask for one pink thing, or pearls A dress code works when it costs nothing. Ballet pink, cream, or a strand of pearls already in the drawer. Say it plainly on the invitation so guests know flats and a cardigan are fine.
  • Decide what the secret is The card promises one, so plan it. A honeymoon destination, a wedding date, a dress fitting, a surprise guest walking in. Tell the bride first if it concerns her, and tell it after the cake lands so the room is already seated.
  • Keep the gift table small There is rarely a spare table at a tea room, so ask for soft or flat gifts and have someone carry them to the car as they are opened. A card box with a clasp holds the envelopes and travels in one hand.
