Nowhere Else to Wear This
A dress bought for a wedding that got moved finally leaves the garment bag.
Part of the TinselLux™ collection: invitations in stitched leather, tufted velvet, linen and satin.
The material is the card: linen with a visible weave, velvet with a nap, leather with its grain. It costs the same as every other invitation.
See the collectionA just because invitation is the only paperwork this party needs, because the occasion is the clothes. Guests arrive in the thing that has hung in a garment bag since the fitting: the beaded column, the velvet suit, the satin heels worn once across a carpet. Nobody is engaged. Nobody is turning anything. The hooks go up the back and the hierarchy is settled at the door.
The room itself stays modest. A cleared living room or a small hired hall, a tray of drinks, one lamp turned toward the hallway mirror because that is where the photographs happen. People stand longer than they would otherwise, on account of the boning. It turns around the second drink, when someone explains exactly what the dress was bought for and how long ago that was, and the room agrees it was worth keeping.

What to actually tell people
- Station someone at the door for hooks and zips Half of what arrives cannot be fastened by the person wearing it. One reliable guest near the entrance, with a hand free, solves the first ten minutes.
- Hard chairs only Deep sofas and beaded skirts are a poor arrangement, and nobody in a corset wants to get back up out of one. Set out dining chairs and leave the low seating pushed against the wall.
- Serve food that survives satin Everything one-handed, nothing with oil or a red sauce, and no skewers pointed at a pale bodice. Put the plates on a high table so guests eat standing, at a distance from themselves.
- Put a rail by the door and flats underneath it Coats on hangers, not on a bed, because the pile crushes anything structured. A row of flats under the rail means the shoes come off at the end of the night rather than in the middle of it.
