Nowhere Else to Wear This in Gold
A single drop earring is worn on its own, and the question is never raised.
This design has the Final Touch: the wording is stamped, stitched or foiled to match the artwork, so the card reads as one finished piece.
Start from it and your wording is painted in the same way, exactly as you type it.
What the Final Touch isA just because invitation for the night the closet comes out. Guests arrive in things bought for occasions that never happened: the champagne sequin gown, a grandmother's crystal-and-pearl brooch, the gold bow pin nobody has seen outside a photograph. There is no ceremony and no seating plan. The venue is a living room with the coffee table pushed against the wall.
The first hour is spent looking at each other, because everybody has a story about where the dress came from and what it was supposed to be for. Photographs happen by the hall lamp while the lipstick is still exact. Later the heels go under a chair and two people end up on the floor in floor-length, discussing hem repairs. The brooches stay pinned until the coats come out.

What to actually tell people
- Set a floor, not a theme Name the minimum: floor-length, sequins, or something inherited. A theme invites interpretation, and a floor keeps anyone from arriving in jeans and apologising about it all evening.
- One lamp, one mirror Overhead light flattens sequins and kills crystal. Put a warm lamp beside a full-length mirror near the door, and every photograph of the night happens in the same good corner.
- A pin tin by the mirror Safety pins, clear nail polish for a run, double-sided tape, and a needle with navy thread. Something gives way at the shoulder before the evening is over.
- Serve nothing red White wine, olives, anything that takes one hand. A plate eaten standing is the only plate silk forgives.
