Baby shower invitation

Welcome Baby

Guests sign a leather-bound book that will sit on a shelf for the next twenty years.

Baby shower invitation: Cognac leather card with saddle stitching, a flat strap and small antique brass buckle across the bottom, six baby footprints debossed up the right edge, and WELCOME BABY branded in serif capitals at the top.

Part of the TinselLux™ collection: invitations in stitched leather, tufted velvet, linen and satin.

The material is the card: linen with a visible weave, velvet with a nap, leather with its grain. It costs the same as every other invitation.

See the collection

This baby shower invitation imagines an afternoon with no pastel in sight: brown paper, twine, brass, and a long table set with a board of bread, cheese and sliced apples. Coffee and cider go in sturdy mugs. The gifts stack up in kraft paper, and the ones people remember are the ones built to last: a hardwood rocker, a leather-handled bag, boots bought a size up.

Somewhere near the door there is a book with blank pages and two good pens. People write a line each, some short, some long, and the parents read them later that night when the room is quiet. The footprints on the card are the idea of the whole thing. Someone small is on the way, and the house is being made ready for them.

Every line of the wording is an example, and yours to replace. The title is painted into the artwork. Type your own and it is drawn again with your words.

What to actually tell people

  • Put out the book first Set a blank leather or cloth-bound book by the door with two pens that actually write. Write one prompt on the first page, something like one thing you want them to know, so nobody stalls.
  • Make the footprint trail real Cut small footprints from kraft paper and run them from the front door along the floor to the gift table. It tells people where to put what they brought without a single sign.
  • Ask for the things that last Point the registry toward the durable end: a wooden high chair, a canvas and leather diaper bag, a good crib sheet set. Put the small consumables lower down the list.
  • Keep the table to three colors Brown, cream and brass carries the whole room. A kraft paper runner, two brass candlesticks and food served on wooden boards means no balloons and no extra trips.
